Welcome to the Scotts Valley Unified School District! We are excited to welcome you to our schools and help guide you through the process of registering your child. The information on this page explains the process for registering all new incoming Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten students, as well as any student in grades 1-12 that will be new to SVUSD for the 2024-2025 school year.

STEP ONE - Review Key Dates

The priority registration period begins on December 7th, 2023 - February 1st, 2024. We strongly recommend families register during this timeframe, in order to reserve their spot. All completed registrations received during the Priority Registration Period will receive priority to their home school if space is available. 

STEP TWO - Verify Grade Level Eligibility

For the 2024-2025 school year, students are eligible to enter the following grade levels based on their age: 

• Transitional Kindergarten (TK) - children who will be five years of age between September 2, 2024, and  September 1, 2025. Learn more about our TK program by visiting our Transitional Kinder page. 

• Kindergarten- if they have reached 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2024

  • TK students currently enrolled in SVUSD do not need to register for Kindergarten as they are already enrolled in our District and will be automatically enrolled in Kindergarten. 

• Grades 1-12: Will be placed in the grade following the last one they attended, or according to their age if it is their first time attending public school in the United States.

STEP THREE - Verify Residency 

Please see the District Street Index to determine your school of residency. 

Any student wishing to attend SVUSD who is located outside of our residency area will need to visit our Interdistrict Transfer Page and complete those steps prior to registering in Scotts Valley. 

STEP FOUR - Gather Required Registration Documents

1.  Age Verification – the following documents will be accepted:
   • Certified copy of birth record
   • Statement by the local registrar or county recorder certifying the date of birth
   • Baptism certificate
   • Passport
   • When none of the foregoing is obtainable, an affidavit of the parent, guardian, or
   custodian, or any other appropriate means of proving the child’s age.

2. Current Immunization Record

3. Address Verification – two of the following documents will be accepted:
   • Property tax payment receipts
   • Rental property contract, lease, or payment receipts
   • Utility service contract, statements, or payment receipts
   • Pay stubs
   • Voter registration
   • Correspondence from a government agency
   • Declaration of residency (English),(Spanish) executed by the parent or legal guardian of the student.

4. Caregiver's Authorization Affidavit - required only if you are not the student's legal guardian and the student is living in your home

STEP FIVE - Complete ParentVue Online Enrollment 

If you are a current Scotts Valley Unified School District family or have ever had a student attend a Scotts Valley Unified School District school and are registering a new student, login to ParentVue to register. Click "Online Registration" in the upper right corner and choose "2023-2024 New Student Pre-Registration" from the drop down menu.

Families who have never had a student attend a Scotts Valley Unified School District school are required to create a ParentVue account to register students online. You will need a valid email address in order to create a ParentVue account. Once you are able to login into your ParentVue account, click "Online Registration" in the upper right corner and choose "2024 - 2025 New Student Pre-Registration" from the drop down menu.

STEP SIX - New Student Confirmation 

Once you have completed the required online registration you can either email or hand deliver the above documents to your school site. This will be the final step to ensure your child is registered! If you have questions about registration you can contact your school office, or our district office at registration@scottsvalleyusd.org
