Building the Future Together: Thank You for Supporting Measure O
By Tanya Krause, Superintendent, Scotts Valley Unified School District
Last November, the Scotts Valley community came together to support our schools by passing Measure O, an $85 million bond dedicated to upgrading and modernizing our school facilities. On behalf of the Scotts Valley Unified School District, thank you for this tremendous show of support.
This community-driven measure reflects the deep connection Scotts Valley has to its public schools. It ensures that our learning environments are safe, functional, and inspiring for the 2,000-plus students we serve today and for generations to come.
Thanks to your support, the District is moving forward with the first phase of projects, which focuses on critical upgrades across all four of our schools: Scotts Valley High School, Brook Knoll Elementary, Vine Hill Elementary, and Scotts Valley Middle School.
Planned improvements include:
● Constructing multipurpose rooms at elementary schools for indoor dining, events, and assemblies.
● Replacing old and unsafe playground equipment.
● Building a new all-weather track and field at Scotts Valley High School with permanent bleachers, restrooms, a concession stand, a press box, and sand volleyball courts.
● Upgrading heating and cooling systems for student and staff comfort.
● Installing solar panels to reduce long-term utility costs.
● Improving campus safety.
● Enhancing accessibility and increasing student access to technology.
● Repairing leaking roofs, aging pipes, and outdated wiring.
These are foundational, long-overdue needs that bring Scotts Valley schools up to the standard our students and staff deserve. Great schools are at the heart of every thriving community. From all of us at Scotts Valley Unified School District, thank you for believing in public education and helping us shape a brighter future for our students.
